Senior Project Manager – Temporary

Our market leading client is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join an existing site team on CrossRail projects. The project is to design and build various balustrades, handrails and man safe systems within a Crossrail station.
 
This is a temporary role (6-8 months) replacing the departing Project Director who is leaving the business on the 30th June. The appointment will allow for two months of working with the present PD prior to his departure. There will be potential opportunity for a permanent position on completion of the project.
 
Duties:
  • Manage the client engagement and relationship
  • Obtain a comprehensive understanding of the scope of works and programme period
  • Day to day management of direct site labour and labour only subcontractor to achieve site programme and safe and efficient working
  • Delivering and recording toolbox talks, safety briefings and monitoring safe system of work compliance & overall safe working practices on site including monitoring and recording of site labour proof of skills
  • Work with project and site managers for coordination of works, material and plant deliveries
  • Updating and monitoring the site installation programme (Project and Excel), with the Commercial Manager, to factor in site delays and restrictions for accountability
  • Co-ordinating/managing our work with other interfacing trades
  • Formal weekly reporting upon site installation progress and programme review
  • Attending subcontractor and suppliers review meetings as and when required to review the status of development/progress of construction
  • Working with our commercial manager ensuring all commercial aspects including delays, changes in scope, variations have been picked up during the site installation process
  • Engage with Design Manager to understand and overcome any design issues/buildability on site, to overcome issues in a safe, and timely fashion achieving the required levels of quality, ensuring compliance with Crossrail project protocol
  • Engage with Lead Site Engineer and Quality Manager on quality inspections in line with project inspection and test plan, to achieve required levels of quality and traceability
  • Attending daily & weekly construction phase coordination meetings for works and interface with, client, main contractor other labour only sub-contractors
  • Overseeing and ensuring compliance with project specific inspection and test plan, with all supporting documentation completed correctly, recorded and in a timely fashion
  • Be a commercially astute and motivational leader
  • Promote a culture of safe working, pride in “right first time” and client focus
  • Delivering all the above, on time and within budget
 
About You:
  • A strong working at height and management background delivering complex and major projects in a large Crossrail/Network Rail project
  • Management experience of leading a sub-contractor team, comprising a variety of abilities, on a large construction project
  • Excellent knowledge and application of project management tools and techniques
  • Experience of CrossRail/Network Rail construction works processes
  • NEC Contract Experience
  • Clear thinker with determination, energy, good planning abilities
  • Experience with cranes/lifting operations (ideally GGR spider cranes and suction lifters)- CPCS slinger or lift supervisor desirable
  • Experience in site installation of mechanical assemblies- ideally glazing systems/screens/curtain walling
  • Experience in lieu suspended access equipment design and installation
  • NVQ level 6 Diploma- Construction site manager or equivalent
  • CDM Regulations knowledge and experience desired
  • SMSTS
  • Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH- General certificate or similar) desirable
  • CSCS applicable to trade/qualification card holder
  • Familiar with Microsoft project planner and competent with Excel and Word
