Purchasing Assistant
Sheffield

Purchasing assistant to join our small, busy, procurement department. The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for processing purchase orders, obtaining quotes from suppliers and expediting orders along with ensuring on time delivery of goods to site. You will need experience within a Purchasing or Supply Chain department, and be comfortable liaising with suppliers.

Specific duties of the Purchasing Assistant include:
• Place, review and expedite purchase orders
• Communicate with suppliers re: re-scheduling of orders
• Ensure on time delivery of orders and notify project teams of changes
• Enter all details into company ERP and warehousing system
• Advise purchasing and project managers of material shortages
• Provide administrative support to the Purchasing & Supply Chain department

Purchasing Assistant applicants should meet the following criteria:
• Purchasing knowledge/experience
• Proficient in Microsoft programs with experience using ERP or purchasing software
• Be comfortable in communicating with suppliers
• Strong negotiation skills
• Very good organisational and time management skills
• Able to use own initiative and overcome setbacks and prioritise workload
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
