We are looking for an experienced Associate Planner to play a pivotal role in leading projects and shaping successful planning outcomes for clients across a wide range of sectors. With deep knowledge of the UK planning system, you’ll lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage complex applications, and build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and authorities.
As an associate planner, you will be responsible for:
- Lead and deliver complex planning projects, providing expert advice and high-quality submissions.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring outstanding service and strong professional relationships.
- Represent clients at site visits, consultations, hearings, committees, and public inquiries.
- Manage and mentor a team of planners, supporting professional growth and technical excellence.
- Contribute to business development, building the client base and identifying new opportunities.
- Oversee project budgets, proposals, and delivery against financial targets.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- An experienced planner with 8+ years in the private sector (consultancy or client-side).
- A chartered member of the RTPI (essential).
- A proven team leader and mentor, able to inspire and develop colleagues.
- Expert in UK planning legislation, processes, appeals, and applications.
- Skilled in strategy, negotiation, communication, and report writing.
- Confident in presenting and representing clients at a senior level.
- Strong in project and resource management, balancing deadlines and budgets effectively.
- Holder of a full clean driving licence.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
Desirable: experience in the energy sector, ECU procedures, or the Scottish planning system, plus a track record in business development.
