Job Title: Mobile Plant Engineer

Location: Doncaster

Job type: Full time, Permanent.

Pay: £18 -£23 p/h

Hours of Work: 7:00am - 5:00pm, 5 days per week (some weekend working required for servicing)

We are looking for an experienced Mobile Plant Fitter to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a site-based position where you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of heavy mobile plant equipment.

Although the machinery is mobile, this is not a field service role. The successful candidate will be based on one site, carrying out planned maintenance and repairs to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently.

Please note: This position is not suitable for car mechanics. We require an experienced heavy mobile plant engineer with proven knowledge of construction, waste, recycling, or industrial plant machinery.

As a Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for: 

  • Service, maintain and repair heavy mobile plant equipment.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
  • Use manufacturer diagnostic software to identify and resolve issues.
  • Repair engines, hydraulic systems, rams and axles.
  • Carry out welding and fabrication repairs where required.
  • Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company standards.
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records.

Equipment worked on: 

Experience working on the following equipment is essential:

  • Loading Shovels
  • 360 Grabs
  • Forklift Trucks (FLT)
  • Telehandlers
  • Other heavy mobile plant

The ideal candidate:

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Mobile Plant Fitter/Engineer.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience using plant diagnostic software.
  • Excellent knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems.
  • Competent in repairing hydraulic rams and axles.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
